Wyoming State Adopts Chainlink Proof of Reserve for Frontier Token
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has announced its adoption of Chainlink Proof of Reserve to verify the reserves backing the state's stable token, Frontier Token (FRNT). This move is seen as a step toward increased transparency in digital-asset management. According to the Commission, this integration will enable live evidence that the cash and U.S. Treasury assets intended to back the token are actually in place.
The adoption of Chainlink Proof of Reserve uses independent data feeds to check that a token's off-chain assets match its on-chain supply, alerting holders when the collateral behind a coin falls short. For FRNT, this means the Commission can provide live evidence of the token's backing rather than relying on periodic attestations.
The integration is framed as a transparency upgrade rather than a change to FRNT's underlying design. The token has already been integrated with Chainlink's CCIP interoperability protocol for cross-chain movement, which was announced in August.
Wyoming issued FRNT as the first state-authorized stable token in the United States, positioning it as a test case for how a government can issue money on a blockchain. The extension of on-chain verification to its reserves is meant to give that pilot a stronger credibility argument as federal stablecoin legislation pushes issuers toward tighter reserve disclosure.
