Wyoming Switches Frontier Stable Token to Chainlink CCIP
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has moved its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. This change will serve as the token's exclusive cross-chain infrastructure under a multi-year agreement.
FRNT is the first fiat-backed stable token issued by a U.S. public entity, designed for payments, settlements, and other public-sector and commercial uses. It is currently available on multiple networks: Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Hedera, Optimism, Polygon, and Solana.
The Commission initially used LayerZero's omnichain fungible token standard to deploy FRNT across these networks. However, it later decided to deprecate that implementation due to concerns over LayerZero's disclosure practices and operational security.
The move to Chainlink CCIP is part of Wyoming's multi-chain approach to stable tokens, which began in 2023. The Commission states that this change provides stronger operational security as the state expands its use of digital assets.
