Wyoming Switches Stablecoin Infrastructure Amid Security Concerns
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission announced on August 18, 2026, that it had migrated its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). The move comes after a security review identified concerns with LayerZero's disclosure practices and operational security.
The Commission chose CCIP for its enterprise-grade infrastructure, strict security requirements, and risk management features. This includes SOC 2 Type 2 certification, secure by default architecture, and built-in risk controls.
FRNT is a fiat-backed, fully reserved stable token issued by the state of Wyoming. It has reserves of at least 102% of outstanding tokens in US dollars and short-term US Treasuries. Interest earned on these reserves flows to Wyoming's School Foundation Program each quarter.
