Wyoming Switches Stablecoin Infrastructure to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol
Wyoming has decided to switch its state-issued Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from Layer Zero Stargate to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This change is part of an overall security review by the Wyoming government, which cited Layer Zero's security practices and lack of disclosure as reasons for their decision.
The move aims to provide additional validation of transfers, requiring a minimum of 16 separate independent operators to validate every transfer. This will enable FRNT to transfer between all supported Ethereum, Solana, Base, and other blockchain networks under one unified framework.
Wyoming's choice also places FRNT within a cross-chain network where stablecoins already account for substantial activity. According to DeFiLlama data, CCIP has processed more than $23 billion in cumulative transfers, while current daily transfer volumes hover around $29 million.
