X Aims to Make Crypto Trading Easier with New Trade Buttons
X is testing the addition of trade buttons to its crypto charts, allowing users to buy and sell popular cryptocurrencies directly from their timelines. According to Nikita Bier, former X product head, the feature could support coins like BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, ZEC, and XLM. Bier created X's existing Smart Cashtags feature with the goal of bringing crypto trading tools to X.
While it's unclear exactly how X will handle trades, Bier clarified that X won't act as a broker or facilitate trades itself. Instead, users may be sent to an outside platform to complete their transactions, similar to how X works with Wealthsimple in Canada.
The exact blockchain coverage for the new feature remains unclear, but Solana and Ethereum are mentioned as possible supported networks. Bier also linked the potential crypto bull market to the U.S. Treasury's bond-buyback plans, although the market has not yet confirmed his bullish call.
