X Brings Crypto Trading Buttons to User Feeds
X is expanding its Cashtags feature to enable direct cryptocurrency trading within user feeds. The platform will integrate buttons for buying and selling cryptocurrencies, streamlining the process of executing trades.
This development builds upon the existing Cashtags functionality, which provides real-time price charts for Solana and Ethereum within posts. Since its debut in April, Cashtags has facilitated approximately $1 billion in transaction volume.
Nikita Bier, who previously served as X's product leadership head, developed Cashtags with trading integration planned as the next phase. He characterized the process of executing trades through the proposed trading button as requiring just a single tap from discovery to completed purchase.
X will function as an intermediary, connecting users with trading partners who will finalize transactions. The platform has implemented contract address authentication to protect users from fraudulent tokens.
