X Explores Stablecoin Payouts for Global Content Creators
Elon Musk's X is considering the use of stablecoins as a payment option for its global content creators. The platform, formerly known as Twitter, is exploring the potential of using USDC and other stablecoins to support payments to creators across multiple countries.
X has announced that it will be replacing its revenue-sharing model with a new Original Content Rewards Program, which focuses on original reporting, ideas, expertise, commentary, and other creative content. Stablecoins could provide X with a dollar-linked payment option for creators operating in countries where traditional banking channels may be limited or expensive.
The use of stablecoins aligns with Musk's broader plan to expand X beyond social media and add financial services. The company has been developing X Money as part of this strategy and has secured payment licenses in several U.S. states. Stablecoin-based creator payouts could operate alongside traditional payment tools rather than replace them entirely.
