X is testing new features that allow users to trade cryptocurrencies directly from charts inside posts. Former X product head Nikita Bier revealed this development, stating that trade buttons could be added to crypto charts. The feature is still in its testing phase and does not have a confirmed launch date yet.

The trade buttons may support coins like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, ZEC, and XLM, building on X's existing Smart Cashtags feature.

Bier created the original Cashtags to bring crypto trading tools to X. He led the company's product team for 13 months before leaving in August but continues as an advisor.

It is unclear how X's crypto trading feature will work, with some speculation that users may be sent to an outside platform to complete trades. X has already partnered with Wealthsimple in Canada, where users can tap a ticker and be sent to the platform for transactions.
