A recent security study has uncovered 31 vulnerabilities across 15 facilitators that handle 99% of observed x402 crypto payments and 98% of recorded volume.

The researchers found that every facilitator tested violated at least one security rule, exposing users to theft and fraud risks.

Confirmed tests exposed free shopping, gas abuse, and a limited ERC-6492 theft path, tying over $202,000 in settlement fees to x402 activity on Base and Solana.

The findings highlight urgent concerns around fraud, security, and DeFi payment issues.
