XAO DAO Unveils Governance Overhaul for XRP Ledger
XAO DAO, an organization focused on improving the XRP Ledger's governance structure, is set to implement significant changes over the next two to three months. According to Fabio Marzella, co-founder of XAO DAO, these updates will enhance community participation and make it easier for members to contribute to the XRPL ecosystem.
The planned changes include introducing wallet delegation, allowing members to hand their voting power to others when they lack the time or expertise to vote on individual proposals. Additionally, XAO DAO is reviewing its quorum requirements, including how inactive wallets count toward proposal thresholds.
Another key feature is the introduction of community mini-grants, which will enable members to submit smaller initiatives and seek funding for projects that contribute to the XRPL ecosystem. Marzella emphasizes that these changes aim to create a DAO where the community has 'the ability to act' rather than simply having a vote.
The timing of these updates comes as several XRPL projects have scaled back or shut down, highlighting concerns around developer support and sustainability. Marzella points to the recent news from Gen3, an XRPL infrastructure team, which announced it would spin down two retail products due to weak user demand and rising infrastructure costs.
