XRP Breaks Out of Symmetrical Triangle, Targets Bold Price Surge
Ripple's XRP has broken out of a years-long technical formation known as a symmetrical triangle, potentially signaling another significant rally for the digital asset. According to cryptocurrency analyst Ali Martinez, this breakout could lead to a surge in price, with a target of $15 representing an increase of approximately 530% from current levels.
The symmetrical triangle pattern has been forming since January 2018, characterized by a descending trendline at the top and a rising trendline at the bottom. Martinez noted that every lower high XRP made created a descending trendline at the top, while every higher low created a rising trendline at the bottom.
XRP's recent history has shown its potential for rapid price appreciation under favorable market conditions. The token experienced a 470% price increase following the U.S. presidential elections, briefly touching $3.40 and matching its previous all-time high set during the 2017/2018 bull cycle.
A favorable resolution in Ripple's ongoing lawsuit with the Securities and Exchange Commission could provide additional upward momentum for XRP, potentially leading to regulatory clarity that has eluded the asset for years. Market observers also note that approval of an XRP exchange-traded fund could provide additional upward momentum.
