XRP Community Sets Record Straight on Escrow Balance
The XRP community has stepped in to clarify confusion surrounding Ripple's escrow balance. A recent surge of social media discussions highlighted the discrepancy between various figures being shared, with many citing outdated or conflicting numbers.
X user 'Saul' took it upon himself to address this issue by sharing a current snapshot of Ripple's publicly verifiable XRP escrow holdings. According to his update, the figure stands at 32.4 billion XRP, validated by the popular XRP Ledger explorer, XRPScan.
The director of community at the XRP Ledger Foundation, Vet, further validated this information with a screenshot from XRPScan displaying the circulating supply, total XRP burned, and escrowed amounts. The numbers confirm that there are currently 8,019,684 activated accounts, 14,365,934 XRP burned, 32,445,002,702 XRP escrowed, and a circulating supply of 67,526,265,430 XRP.
Vet also highlighted the transparency surrounding Ripple's public operations on the XRPL. He noted that Ripple has added their public operation accounts and addresses to the XRPL toml file, which are validated with Ripple's UNL validator signature. This includes 20 XRP escrow accounts, 2 clusters, a few validators (only 1 on dUNL), and an RLLUSD issuer address.
