XRP Could Flip Bitcoin with an 18-Fold Price Surge: Former Ripple CTO
XRP's market value could potentially surpass that of Bitcoin, according to former Ripple CTO David Schwartz. Speaking during an online broadcast, Schwartz stated that a price increase of eighteen times would make XRP more plausible than a total drop in Bitcoin's value. Currently, XRP trades under $1.40 and has a market cap of $87.25 billion, which is about 5.5% of Bitcoin's overall market size.
For XRP to flip Bitcoin without Bitcoin moving, it would need to complete an eighteen-fold price surge. Trading data shows that XRP has been compressing in a tight daily price range between $1.375 and $1.40.
XRP's technical charts show resistance between $1.43 and $1.46, with key price support levels holding between $1.34 and $1.35. A clean break above $1.43 could open a path toward $1.50, while dropping below $1.32 risks a pullback to $1.20.
David Schwartz also defended the XRP Ledger against criticism from XRP critic Scam Daddy, who labeled the network a 'ghost chain' due to high automated traffic. Schwartz argued that low network fees are a key feature rather than a weakness, and questioned whether higher fees would make the network better.
