XRP Could Overtake Bitcoin: Expert Says It's 'Probably More Likely Than Not'
Ripple's CTO Emeritus David Schwartz recently stated that XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) flipping Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) is 'probably more likely than not,' but only if XRP grows faster than BTC and doesn't rely on BTC shrinking in value.
Currently, XRP trades near $1.38, while BTC is valued at around $79,000, giving it a market capitalization of about $1.57 trillion compared to roughly $87.18 billion for XRP.
To match Bitcoin's market cap, XRP would need to reach a price of approximately $24.97, which is about 18 times its current value and 6.5 times its all-time high of $3.84 in January 2018.
Schwartz emphasized that this scenario requires more than just a broad crypto rally; instead, XRP would need to experience significant growth through increased adoption and usage of the XRP Ledger.
