XRP Could Overtake Bitcoin in Market Cap, But Only with Faster Growth
Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has sparked debate in the crypto community by suggesting that XRP could potentially surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization. However, this outcome would not require Bitcoin to collapse, but rather for XRP to grow faster than its larger rival.
Schwarz emphasized that such a scenario would depend on the expansion of the XRP Ledger's adoption and the asset's growth rate. He noted that the ledger's speed and functionality could contribute to wider usage and stronger demand for XRP.
The comparison between the two assets does not imply that Bitcoin's market dominance will necessarily decline. Schwartz's condition is that XRP would need to grow faster, allowing it to close the gap through relative expansion rather than a collapse in Bitcoin's valuation.
