XRP Could Overtake Bitcoin, Says Ripple CTO Emeritus
Ripple's CTO Emeritus David Schwartz says it is more likely than not for XRP to flip Bitcoin, but this would require extraordinary conditions. He explained that XRP would need to grow faster than Bitcoin and reach a price of about $24.97 to match its market cap.
This price target is around 18 times higher than XRP's current price and 6.5 times its all-time high of $3.84 in January 2018. Schwartz did not provide a timeline or set a specific price target, but emphasized that the scenario would depend on greater usage and adoption of the XRP Ledger.
The market cap gap between Bitcoin and XRP is significant, with Bitcoin's current valuation standing at around $1.57 trillion compared to XRP's $87.18 billion. To close this gap, XRP would need to experience substantial growth in a broad crypto rally that benefits both the largest cryptocurrencies.
