XRP Could Surpass Bitcoin if Growth Outpaces It
Ripple's former CTO, David Schwartz, recently made headlines by stating that XRP could potentially surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization. However, he emphasized that this would only happen if XRP's growth outpaces Bitcoin's, rather than relying on a decline in Bitcoin's value.
Schwarz attributed XRP Ledger's speed and functionality as key drivers for its potential expansion. Currently, Bitcoin's market cap is approximately 17.7 times larger than XRP's, meaning that XRP would need to reach around $25 per token to match Bitcoin's valuation today.
The institutional interest in XRP ETFs is rising, supported by clearer U.S. regulatory status after Ripple's SEC litigation ended, which may fuel XRP's growth. Schwartz's view is a possibility, not an immediate prediction, given the significant market cap gap.
