XRP Crashes Below $1 as Security Concerns and US CPI Loom
XRP's price has fallen below $1 for the first time since November 2024, despite recent positive developments in its ecosystem. On August 11, the cryptocurrency dropped as low as $0.99 on Binance, breaching a key psychological support level.
The decline was attributed to security concerns and investor caution ahead of the US consumer price index (CPI) release on August 12. XRP futures trading saw significant increases, with investors adjusting their positions in anticipation of the CPI's impact on US Treasury yields and monetary policy.
XRP has struggled this year, with a 46% decline since the start of the year and a sharp drop against Bitcoin. Its relative return versus Bitcoin fell by as much as 31% at one point.
