XRP Derivatives Activity Crashes to 2024 Low Amid Fed Uncertainty
The XRP Open Interest (OI) on Binance has plummeted to its lowest levels since 2024, indicating a significant decline in derivatives activity. This trend suggests that traders are cutting back on leveraged positions and becoming more cautious due to uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision.
According to CryptoQuant analyst Arab Chain, the Open Interest for XRP contracts on Binance has dropped to around $369.6 million, marking a substantial decline in market participation. This drop comes despite high trading volumes across Binance's overall derivatives market, indicating that the slowdown is limited to XRP contracts.
Arab Chain notes that falling Open Interest does not necessarily indicate a bullish or bearish outlook but rather shows changes in market participation and leverage use. A rise in Open Interest alongside a recovery in XRP's price could suggest a return of speculative trading, while continued declines may indicate ongoing caution among traders.
