XRP ETFs Attract Record Inflows as 21Shares Flags Utility vs Holder Value Gap
Ripple's XRP token has seen significant institutional investment in recent months. In total, U.S. spot XRP ETFs have drawn over $1.7 billion in cumulative net inflows since their launch. This surge in interest comes as asset manager 21Shares published a formal XRP investment case, outlining four pillars that justify holding the token.
The report from 21Shares breaks down the XRP investment case into regulatory clarity, institutional access, measurable utility, and fixed supply. The first pillar, regulatory clarity, has been achieved with the end of the SEC's four-year battle against Ripple in August 2025. This has removed a major compliance hurdle for regulated funds and banks.
Institutional access has followed quickly, with seven U.S. spot XRP ETFs launching from November 2025, attracting $1.3 billion in their first month alone. Goldman Sachs was the largest XRP ETF holder at one point, holding $153.8 million in its Q4 2025 filing, but later exited the full position.
The utility pillar is where 21Shares draws a sharp line. The XRP Ledger has settled close to half a trillion dollars in on-chain value over the past 12 months. Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin grew from $72 million to roughly $1.6 billion since launch, while XRPL tokenized real-world assets now stand near $4 billion.
