XRP Holds Steady at $1.009 Amid CFTC Preparations for CLARITY
XRP has maintained its price at $1.009 since the Senate's failure to pass the CLARITY Act in August, which would have written XRP's legal status into federal law.
The bill is expected to be revisited when senators return in September, but the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has signaled that it will not wait. The CFTC is preparing for CLARITY by holding its first Innovation Advisory meeting next week, August 20.
XRP's price peaked at $3.65 on July 17, 2025, the day the House passed the bill. Since then, the token has been down 2.9% over the past week and 8.7% over the past month, sitting about 72% below its peak.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse will be attending the CFTC meeting as a member of the committee. The SEC is also moving in parallel, with commissioners voting on proposed crypto offering rules for token fundraising this Friday.
