XRP Jumps 19%, But Favorable Regulations May Not Be Enough
XRP's price jumped by 18.7% in one day after President Donald Trump met with crypto executives and regulators at the White House.
The meeting discussed new regulations for the sector, given the stalled Clarity Act, which has only a 26% chance of passing in 2026 according to prediction markets.
XRP's price increase was part of a broader market surge, with Bitcoin and Ethereum also climbing by double digits.
Ripple, XRP's issuer, had an opportunity to appeal directly to the administration at the meeting, making it a more valuable coin for financial institutions.
However, XRP has unfavorable tokenomics, with low fees collected by the network (only $314 in 24 hours) and no mechanism to drive scarcity of the coin.
