XRP Leads Bitcoin in South Korea with Nearly 4x Trading Volume Amid Market Turmoil
South Korea's crypto markets are once again demonstrating their influence on global XRP trading activity. According to market analyst Xaif Crypto, XRP is now trading at nearly four times the volume of Bitcoin across South Korea's leading exchanges, a stark contrast to the country's traditional financial markets, which have seen a 44% stock market collapse in just 40 days.
The trend has been building for weeks, with XRP recently generating more than twice Bitcoin's trading volume on Upbit, South Korea's largest crypto exchange, with roughly $86 million in turnover. This surge is not a short-term reaction to equity market weakness, but rather the result of years of strong local adoption and retail demand.
The finance ministry has unveiled measures aimed at stabilizing markets and restoring investor confidence, but XRP's dominance is unlikely to be affected. Ripple's expanding ecosystem, including progress on the XRP Ledger, growth of RLUSD, tokenization initiatives, and cross-border payments strategy, have kept XRP firmly in the spotlight.
