XRP Ledger Accelerates Quantum-Ready Upgrade to 2028
The XRP Ledger is accelerating its transition to quantum-computing-resistant standards, aiming to complete the upgrade by 2028, one year ahead of Ethereum's target. This milestone will allow cryptographic protocols to be updated without modifying users' existing addresses.
According to Vet, a contributor to the XRPL Foundation and validator on the decentralized unique node list (dUNL), the XRP Ledger's native key rotation architecture is a core advantage of the migration. This feature enables security standards to be updated while preserving existing r-addresses, eliminating confusion for custodians and users.
The network will undergo a testing phase, followed by a hybrid signature deployment in 2027 and the final upgrade on the mainnet in 2028. This plan places the XRP Ledger ahead of Ethereum's equivalent roadmap, which extends to 2029.
