XRP Ledger Activity Spikes Amid Declines in Payment Volume
The XRP Ledger has shown significant activity spikes in recent times, but a closer look at the data reveals a more complex picture. According to CryptoRank, transactions processed per ledger have increased by 191.3% to 191.68, while another metric rose by 211% to approximately 498,200.
However, this growth comes alongside declines in other areas. Total transactions fell by 42.7% to about 771,300, successful transactions decreased by 31.3% to around 697,300, and newly created accounts dropped by 85.2% to 340. Active accounts were also reported down by 73.1% to around 3,800.
The most significant decline is in total XRPL payment volume, which fell by 89.2% to approximately 45.2 million XRP. This distinction matters as the mentioned 103% volume increase refers to XRP market trading volume, not payment volume moving across the XRP Ledger.
Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin has been gaining traction on XRPL, with its ledger activity increasing by 224% during 2026. Meanwhile, U.S. spot XRP ETFs attracted $110.49 million in inflows during the week ending August 28, with cumulative net inflows reaching roughly $1.66 billion.
The latest figures suggest that activity is becoming more concentrated rather than every part of the XRP Ledger expanding simultaneously. The distinction between network metrics and their importance cannot be overstated, especially after a volatile August for XRPL activity.
