XRP Ledger Amendment Could Make Native Token Less Visible
A proposed XRP Ledger amendment, known as XLS-68, could make it possible for some users to interact with applications without directly holding XRP. The feature, included in the xrpld v3.3.0 amendment bundle, is part of a broader move toward fee abstraction and smoother user onboarding.
Currently, most blockchains require users to hold the native asset for transaction fees, which can create friction for new users. A new user may receive a stablecoin or token but still need XRP to move it, adding an extra step that loses users.
The proposed feature would allow sponsors to cover fees and reserves for other users, making it possible for apps and wallets to handle the details behind the scenes. This could make the user experience much simpler, especially for enterprise and consumer-facing products.
