XRP Ledger AMM Amendment Hits 80% Consensus Threshold
The XRP Ledger has reached a significant milestone with its Automated Market Maker (AMM) amendment achieving 80% validator consensus. This marks the beginning of the activation window for native AMM functionality on the network, bringing the ledger closer to a more native decentralized finance (DeFi) model.
XRP has traditionally excelled in exchange liquidity and payments narrative, but DeFi has not been its defining strength compared to other smart contract ecosystems. A native AMM could change this by adding a direct DeFi layer to the network, allowing users and developers to perform tasks without relying on external infrastructure.
The amendment's 80% consensus does not mean the feature is fully active yet; it begins the holding period before enablement, assuming support remains high enough. The activation process requires validator support throughout the window to complete successfully.
