XRP Ledger Credit Plan Stalls as Validators Weigh in on Lending Amendments
The XRP Ledger's institutional credit plan is still waiting for validators to approve two connected amendments. Ripple sees lending as a missing layer in tokenized financial markets, but the network's lending tools remain inactive on mainnet.
According to Ripple product head Jasmine Cooper, lending would allow institutions to finance assets and manage short-term liquidity. The proposed system would not decide whether a borrower deserves credit, but rather record agreed loans and apply payment schedules, interest terms, and default rules.
The two amendments require validator support: XLS-65 introduces Single Asset Vaults, which collect one type of asset from multiple depositors, while XLS-66 adds the lending machinery. Currently, nine validators support SingleAssetVault, equal to 25.71%, and eight for LendingProtocol, equal to 22.86%.
