XRP Ledger DEX Gains Traction as Tokenized Asset Infrastructure
XRP Ledger's decentralized exchange (DEX) is gaining attention as a potential infrastructure for tokenized institutional assets. The XRP Ledger DEX was designed to enable trading of assets issued on XRPL without relying on centralized exchanges.
The native market structure of the XRP Ledger combines order books and Automated Market Maker pools, aggregating liquidity at the protocol level and potentially reducing fragmentation and improving execution for tokenized assets.
Ripple estimates that tokenized assets could reach nearly $19 trillion by 2033, with XRPL already supporting tokenized products from institutions like Ondo Finance and Société Générale. In May 2026, a cross-border redemption of tokenized US Treasuries between Ondo, Kinexys by JPMorgan, Mastercard, and Ripple settled on XRPL in under five seconds.
XRPL includes features such as Credentials and Permissioned Domains that restrict access to verified participants, and Single Asset Vaults can be configured as private to limit deposits. The XLS-66 proposal suggests using pooled funds from these vaults for fixed-term lending with off-chain underwriting and risk management.
