XRP Ledger Hub Fully Recovered from Recent Attack, Schwartz Confirms
Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has provided an update on his private hub, which is a major relay server that enables communication between other nodes in the XRP Ledger network. The telemetry data spans from August 25 to September 8 and includes metrics such as connection rates, latency, and malicious activity.
The results show that the system has fully recovered from the recent infrastructure crisis caused by a 'manifest storm' attack on July 31. In this type of attack, attackers flooded the network with thousands of fake credentials, forcing nodes to spend resources processing garbage.
Schwartz's hub was severely affected by the attack, experiencing connection failures and high latency. However, thanks to emergency engineering intervention and a hotfix patch (xrpld 3.2.1), the system has been able to recover and maintain stability.
The latest metrics demonstrate that the consequences of the attack have been eliminated. The hub maintains around 400 simultaneous connections, with peak inbound and outbound connections reaching 135 and 271 respectively. Latency fell to 165 milliseconds, with only a brief spike to 1.49 seconds on September 6.
