XRP Ledger Launches Major v3.3.0 Upgrade with Confidential Transfers and Institutional Tools

The XRP Ledger has released version 3.3.0, which includes six proposed amendments for validator voting. These amendments focus on privacy, transaction management, and institutional capabilities. One notable proposal is Confidential Transfer, which uses EC-ElGamal encryption and zero-knowledge proofs to shield individual Multi-Purpose Token balances and transfer amounts from public view.

The Batch amendment addresses the issue of multiple transactions being executed as a single atomic operation, allowing for more complex settlement flows. Permission Delegation separates operational duties from asset custody by allowing account owners to assign specific transaction permissions to another account without handing over control of primary account keys.

Sponsor introduces a feature that allows one account to cover transaction fees and reserve requirements for another under defined conditions. This can reduce friction around account funding and transaction execution. Dynamic MPT gives token issuers the ability to change selected properties of Multi-Purpose Tokens after issuance, providing additional flexibility in managing tokenized assets.

The 3.3.0 release also includes infrastructure work aimed at improving node performance by reducing resource requirements and improving synchronization for operators. If the six proposals clear the two-week supermajority threshold, the XRP Ledger would gain a broader set of native tools for confidential token transfers, atomic transactions, delegated account permissions, sponsored costs, and flexible MPT management.
