XRP Ledger Moves Closer to Independence with xrpld Naming Change
The XRP Ledger has released its core server software version 3.2.0, marking an important step in its journey towards independence from Ripple the company.
The release renames the core server binary from 'rippled' to 'xrpld', a change that may seem minor but reflects the network's growing identity as a standalone entity with its own foundation, standards process, and infrastructure teams.
In addition to the naming change, the update includes an updated GPG signing key for automatic upgrades, retires legacy amendments, and fixes bugs related to Single Asset Vaults.
The upgrade is significant because it shows that the XRP Ledger ecosystem is moving beyond its historical association with Ripple, embracing a more decentralized approach that prioritizes XRPL's native identity.
