XRP Ledger Outpaces Ethereum in Quantum Resistance Quest
XRP Ledger is making rapid progress towards becoming fully quantum-resistant by 2028. This puts it ahead of its main competitor, Ethereum, which aims to achieve this milestone in 2029.
The XRP Ledger's architecture includes several key features that make it well-positioned for the transition: native key rotation, 'Quantum-Day' emergency response protocol, and active cryptography testing. These features will allow cryptographic keys to be updated without disrupting the network, isolate vulnerable accounts in case of an unexpected breakthrough, and deploy new security protocols through a hybrid approach.
The developers are already conducting practical testing of quantum-resistant algorithms and have introduced a contingency plan for any unforeseen technological advancements. This proactive approach is expected to ensure the ledger's continued security even after the transition to post-quantum standards.
