XRP Ledger Prepares for Major Upgrade with Five New Features Focused on Institutional Finance
The XRP Ledger is set to receive a significant upgrade with the release of xrpld v3.3.0, introducing five new features that aim to make it more attractive to banks and businesses using blockchain.
RippleX Head of Product Jazzi Cooper stated that XRPL has already demonstrated its ability to support tokenized assets at scale, and now the focus is on making those assets easier to transfer, trade, use as collateral, and settle across the network.
The five new features include Batch Transactions, which allows users to combine up to eight transactions into one package, reducing costs and improving network efficiency. Permission Delegation enables businesses to grant limited account access to employees or third parties without sharing full control of their wallets, making institutional asset management safer.
The update also introduces Confidential Multi-Purpose Tokens (Confidential MPT), which hides token balances and transaction amounts from public view while still allowing regulators or approved auditors to access the information when needed. Sponsored Fees and Reserves will allow companies to pay network fees on behalf of their users, eliminating the need for customers to hold XRP just to use applications built on the XRP Ledger.
Finally, Dynamic Multi-Purpose Tokens (Dynamic MPT) will enable token issuers to update certain token settings after launch without creating a new token, making it easier for businesses to adjust to changing regulations.
