XRP Ledger Proposes Confidential Transfers to Secure Institutional Token Trades
XRP Ledger is proposing an upgrade called Confidential Transfers to enhance privacy for institutional token transfers. This feature aims to encrypt balances and payment amounts while keeping account and token types visible.
The proposed upgrade targets the growing market of over $530 million in tokenized assets outside Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin on the ledger. It requires 80% validator approval for two weeks and initially supports only direct MPT payments, excluding exchange trades and escrow.
The privacy enhancement is designed to help institutions maintain transaction confidentiality on a shared blockchain. Further amendments addressing complex workflows are planned in future updates.
