XRP Ledger Proposes Hybrid Post-Quantum Cryptography Testing in 2027
An XRP Ledger Foundation contributor has proposed starting hybrid post-quantum cryptography testing in 2027, with a possible mainnet transition in 2028. The upgrade aims to enhance quantum resistance by introducing new signature algorithms alongside existing ones.
The proposal is not yet part of any official XRPL roadmap or amendment and requires extensive testing and validator approval before activation.
According to the contributor, this upgrade will protect against future quantum computer threats. In comparison, Ethereum targets full quantum security by 2029 but neither timeline is guaranteed as both remain subject to development and governance processes.
