XRP Ledger Protocol Hits Milestone with Permanent Amendments
The XRP Ledger protocol has reached an important milestone with the release of version 3.3.0 of XRPLD, its reference server implementation.
This update introduces a series of bug fixes and improvements, as well as the retirement of five longstanding amendments, making their functionalities permanent parts of the protocol.
The retired amendments are Clawback, fixDisallowIncomingV1, fixInnerObjTemplate, fixNFTokenReserve, and fixUniversalNumber. Mayukha Vadari, a software engineer at RippleX, explained that the retirement process involves deleting pre-amendment code left in the codebase after an amendment has been active for some time.
Vadari noted that the development team typically waits about two years before removing old, pre-amendment code to ensure no disruption for users or developers and preserve enough data for troubleshooting.
