XRP Ledger Releases Hotfix to Prevent Network Abuse After Surge in Validator Manifests
XRP Ledger recently released hotfix 3.2.1 to address a strain on its peer-to-peer infrastructure due to a flood of validator manifests.
On July 31, the XRP Ledger faced an unusual surge in data packets connecting validator identities to signing keys, which caused memory and bandwidth strain on nodes.
The network continued processing transactions and closing ledgers normally, but node operators were required to upgrade and restart their nodes for the fix to take full effect.
The hotfix limits the size and volume of untrusted validator manifests to reduce the strain on nodes and strengthen network stability by controlling data flow from unknown validators.
