XRP Ledger Rolls Out Critical 3.2.1 Upgrade Amid Record Growth and Rising Institutional Demand

The XRP Ledger has released version 3.2.1 as a critical security and stability update following an unusual incident on July 31, where nodes accepted and re-broadcasted unlimited validator manifests linked to unknown keys.

Although the event posed no risk to consensus or transaction integrity, it unnecessarily consumed node memory, storage, and bandwidth.

The new version introduces four safeguards to prevent similar abuse: rejecting oversized manifests, limiting incoming manifest batches, capping the number of shared manifests during peer connections, and restricting the cache to 100 unknown validator keys.

XRP Ledger Operations recommends that node operators upgrade immediately, allow the server to run for one to two minutes, then perform a second restart to clear any previously stored unknown manifests.
