XRP Ledger Rolls Out New Programmability Layer Amid Competing Smart Contract Architectures
The XRP Ledger is introducing its own programmability layer, building on WebAssembly-based Smart Escrows and a drafted general smart contract specification influenced by Hooks from Xahau and Ethereum's EVM.
This move creates three competing smart contract architectures within the XRP ecosystem: Xahau's Hooks, the XRPL EVM sidechain's Solidity, and native WebAssembly on the main ledger.
