XRP Ledger Sees Mysterious Increase in Transaction Activity Amid Decline in Traditional Metrics
The XRP Ledger network has witnessed a significant increase in transaction throughput and user activity despite a decline in traditional metrics. According to recent data, the number of transactions per ledger has increased by 110.6%, reaching 157.33%. This surge is not accompanied by an increase in economic value flowing through the network, as $XRP payment volume fell 19.5% to about 251.3 million.
The number of active users on the XRP Ledger has increased by 166.5% to roughly 489,500, while newly created accounts decreased by 25.9% to about 1,500. The decline in active accounts is a notable divergence from the increasing transaction activity.
The data suggests that network activity has changed in terms of both composition and intensity. Existing infrastructure, automated processes, or applications may be producing significantly more ledger interactions, rather than new persistent XRPL accounts.
