XRP Ledger Shatters Transaction Record with 3,254 Transactions in Single Block
The XRP Ledger has achieved its highest-ever number of transactions in a single ledger block. According to XRPL validator Vet, one recent ledger contained an impressive 3,254 transactions, surpassing previous records.
However, it's essential to note that this record does not necessarily indicate an increase in the permanent transaction-processing limit for the XRP Ledger. Unlike Bitcoin, which has a fixed maximum number of transactions per block, XRPL uses a soft target that can adjust based on how quickly validators process transactions.
Vet explained that if a ledger contains more transactions than its current target and still closes quickly, the network's target can rise, indicating healthy consensus. This means the XRP Ledger can clear more transactions in future ledgers.
The record-breaking 3,254 transactions were primarily tiny XRP transfers, with most being payments of just one drop, the smallest unit of XRP. Vet speculated that these transactions might be related to throughput testing, but they are unsure.
