XRP Ledger Smashes Transaction Record with 3254-Transaction Block
The XRP Ledger network has set a new record for transactions processed in a single ledger block. According to XRPL validator Vet, one recent block contained an impressive 3,254 transactions.
This achievement is particularly notable because most of these transactions were tiny XRP transfers, with many being the smallest unit of XRP, known as a 'drop'.
Vet speculated that the unusually large number of transactions may have been due to throughput testing, but did not elaborate further.
The XRP Ledger's ability to process high numbers of transactions is due in part to its adaptive transaction target. This means that if a ledger contains more transactions than expected and still closes quickly, the network can increase its transaction target for future blocks.
In related news, the XRP Ledger is also preparing to implement a batch of major protocol upgrades with xrpld 3.3.0, which was released on August 6th.
