XRP Ledger Surpasses 5 Billion Transactions: A Testament to Resilience
The XRP Ledger has reached an impressive milestone, surpassing 5 billion lifetime transactions since its launch in June 2012. This achievement is a testament to the platform's resilience and ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
According to xrpscan, a popular XRP explorer, the XRPL crossed the 5 billion all-time transactions mark, with Hussein Zangana (Vet) highlighting this milestone in an X post. He noted that 5 billion transactions were executed on the XRP Ledger at low cost, settled in 3-4 seconds, and consistently over 14 years.
The XRP Ledger was first conceptualized by three engineers, David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto, who began building it in 2011. They aimed to create a digital asset that addressed some of Bitcoin's shortcomings, such as sustainability and payment functionality.
Today, the XRP Ledger continues to expand its capabilities, with over 2.3 million agentic transactions settled on the platform. This growth is driven by AI agents using XRP and RLUSD for direct on-chain payments.
