XRP Ledger Takes a Step Towards Enhanced Privacy with Confidential Transfer
The XRP Ledger is on the verge of a significant upgrade as its first privacy-focused amendment enters the voting process. The Confidential Transfer feature, which allows private and auditable transactions for Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs), is set to revolutionize the way XRP users interact with their funds. This feature uses advanced cryptography, including EC-ElGamal and ZKPs, to shield individual balances and transfer amounts from public view.
The Confidential Transfer amendment, also known as XLS-0096, has been proposed by the XRPL Foundation's director of community, Hussein Zangana (Vet). In a recent tweet, Vet highlighted the significance of this development, stating, 'Privacy on XRP.' The feature is designed to provide institutional-grade privacy for MPTs while maintaining compliance mechanisms for authorized parties.
The latest XRP Ledger version 3.3.0 introduces several new amendments, including FixCleanup3_3_0, which bundles a number of bug fixes and enhancements. These changes aim to improve the overall performance and security of the network.
