XRP Ledger Under Fire for High Bot Transaction Concentration

The XRP Ledger has come under fire for its high concentration of bot transactions. According to a recent study by Bitquery, in August 2026, 793 accounts handled a staggering 93.2% of all network activity.

This figure has drawn criticism from the XRP community, with some labeling the blockchain a 'Ghost chain.' However, Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz defended the network, stating that low costs are not a liability.

Schwartz argued that if transactions were more expensive, it would not necessarily make the network better. He questioned whether it would be beneficial for fewer people to engage in low-value transactions on the ledger.

XRPL validator Vet also expressed support for the Permission Delegation amendment, which aims to enable institutions to delegate operational functions without exposing master wallet keys.
