XRP Ledger Unveils Confidential MPT for Enhanced Institutional Privacy
The XRP Ledger has released version 3.3.0, featuring Confidential MPT, a new privacy amendment that encrypts token balances and transfer amounts while keeping sender and receiver accounts visible.
This opt-in feature is targeted towards institutional users who are concerned about privacy without sacrificing transparency in transaction flows, differentiating it from full privacy coins like Monero or Zcash.
The update also includes sponsored fees and batch transactions, easing enterprise adoption by allowing third parties to pay fees and enabling atomic multi-account settlements.
The amendment awaits activation via validator support and issuer adoption, with regulatory acceptance still uncertain, especially in Europe under MiCA rules. Its success depends on uptake by major token issuers and regulatory clarity, potentially transforming XRP Ledger's role in tokenized real-world assets worth over $530 million.
