XRP Ledger Upgrade Brings Atomic Transactions and Enhanced Security
The XRP Ledger is set to receive its most significant upgrade in months with the release of xrpld 3.3.0, scheduled for August 3-9. This update packs five amendments that will impact various aspects of the ledger, including transaction privacy and institutional onboarding.
One of the key features of this update is the reintroduction of the Batch feature, which allows for atomic execution of up to eight cross-account transactions. However, this feature has a rocky history, having originally reached the validator voting phase in February 2026 but being pulled due to a critical signature validation flaw.
The bug was caught before mainnet activation and no funds were lost, but it pushed back the timeline by around five months. The reintroduced version, labeled BatchV1_1, includes a fix for this vulnerability.
Other notable amendments in this update include Confidential MPT, which introduces zero-knowledge proofs to Multi-Purpose Token transactions, and Dynamic MPT, which gives token issuers the ability to adjust token properties after creation.
