XRP Ledger Upgrade on Track to Unlock New Use Cases
The XRP Ledger is on the verge of activating its major upgrade called BatchV1_1, which will allow developers to combine up to eight transactions into a single transaction. This amendment has been in the works for some time and was introduced in software version 3.3.0 on August 6. To go live, it needs 80% support from validators, which is currently at 68%. If support rises above this threshold and remains there continuously for two weeks, the upgrade will be activated.
The Batch amendment has been eagerly anticipated by XRPL developers, who believe it will unlock new use cases for the XRP ecosystem. 'Batch will unlock a lot of new use cases for the XRP ecosystem,' said an XRPL community member. Another validator, Vet, pointed out that builders have been waiting for this functionality for a long time and that it could make it easier for developers to charge directly for services rather than allowing users to free ride.
However, activation is not guaranteed. Support needs to rise above 80% and remain there continuously for two weeks. If support falls back below the level, the countdown resets. Historically, developers have been unable to combine transactions in this way, but BatchV1_1 will change that.
