XRP Ledger Upgraded to Version 3.3.0 with Six Key Features
The XRP Ledger has been upgraded to version 3.3.0 from 3.2.1, marking one of its biggest updates in a long time. This upgrade brings six new features to the network.
The way XRPL updates work is quite straightforward: major changes update the first number, new features update the second number, and small bug fixes update the third number. The XRP Ledger runs on a network of computers called nodes, all connected to each other and running the same software, known as XRP Ledger D.
The Batch feature is one of the most significant additions in version 3.3.0. It allows users to bundle up to eight transactions into one, rather than signing each one individually. This includes an 'all-or-nothing' mode that ensures a group of transactions either all succeed together or none of them happen at all.
This feature has significant implications for retail apps and institutional use cases, particularly in delivery versus payment. The Permission Delegation feature enables institutions to hand over specific transaction permissions without giving up overall control. This could expand the issuance of Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin without Ripple handling every transaction itself.
